Designed to assist The Mexican Workers Association's campaign to highlight exploitation in New York City's greengroceries, this poster was used as a handbill in one of the city's most energetic campaigns o organize immigrant workers. Then-Councilwoman Margarita Lopez personally gave them to each member of the City Council, which at that very meeting passed a proclamation in support of the effort. The handbill was a feature of vigorous street picketing that attracted attention in newspapers throughout the city, resulted in union recognition at some stores and ultimately led to the intervention of the Attorney General to enforce wage and hour laws throughout the industry.
